Reporting to the Nurse Manager/Director provides clinical, operational and administrative leadership to the Behavioral Health Units. Provides clinical resource and leadership to all nursing staff on the Behavioral Health Units as well as professional liaison to medical units and the Emergency Department. Assumes responsibility for patient care, staff supervision and the care of the environment on the assigned shift. Assumes accountability as delegated by the Nurse Manager/Director while serving as a role model for professional practice in Psychiatric Nursing.


Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of Illinois. Bachelor Degree required. One (1) year of prior clinical experience in a management role is highly desirable. Minimum of five (5) years experience in an Inpatient Psychiatry unit with a demonstrated progression of clinical management responsibility. ANCC Board Certification and a Master Degree in Nursing are highly desirable. Current CPR and CPI certification. The interpersonal skills necessary to interact effectively with patients, families, physicians and other health care professionals and agencies. The organizational skills necessary to plan and coordinate work assignments. The analytical ability necessary to assess a patient’s condition and to utilize professional judgment in coordinating comprehensive patient care. The ability to perform effectively, efficiently and professionally under the pressure of stressful and/or emergency situations.
